Why is my zippo flame so big?

after refilling my zippo with the same fluid I've always used and trimming the wick, I noticed that the flame is now bigger than the lighter itself... which seems pretty dangerous. I use ronsonol fluid because the nearest store that sells the real fluid is a half hour away, but I never had this issue before. The wick is also trimmed to the height of the chimney, and I should probably note that this is the first time I've trimmed it.
