The medical treatment taken overseas can be shown as medical expense in Tax return?
I have high deductible insurance and for most of treatments and diagnosis, I need to obtain insurance company approval and then wait for appointment from the insurance company approved diagnosis and treatment for several months. And the cost was hugh. So after waiting for two months for authorization, appointment and comparing cost, I went overseas to take diagnosis test and treatment. It came around 5000-6000 dollars including air ticket cost. I am wondering if this can be shown as medical expense in filing tax return this year. Is the treatment taken here can be shown as medical expense in tax return or even the treatment taken overseas can be shown? I have all the bills..
