I need help deciding if Gastric Byp is worth going into more debt?

I am a graduate student and only have this student loan to pay back when I am finished ($36,000). I was on a full track scholarship for my undergraduate degree. I was injured during my track days and really have a desire to compete again. However, while recovering from my injuries I gained 80lbs pushing my BMI to 55. I have no other dissorders besides being overweight. I have been trying to work out but lord, I am feeling the weight. I hate that my body won't do what my mind thinks it can and used to be able to do. I fear that I will not stop putting on the weight and hope to have children and a family one day. On a sidenote, my mother and sister have both had the surgery and my sister gained all of her weight back and then some. I am beginning to feel like I will never be normal. I do not health insurance (on state healthcare that will not cover the cost) so I would have to finance the surgery through the docter and make payments. I am willing to do this if I feel there is hope. Help!
